UPS appoints local veteran to head P.R. operations
Juan Colón
Delivery and logistics giant UPS has appointed Juan Colón, a 17-year company veteran, as the country manager for Puerto Rico, with responsibility for all UPS package, cargo and logistics operations.
“With Colon’s knowledge and expertise, UPS is confident he can help us further develop UPS’s business in Puerto Rico,” said Romaine Seguin, president of UPS Americas Region. “He has extensive engineering experience and has excelled in various leadership positions in UPS.”
Colón began his career at UPS in 1994 as an operations supervisor. Ten years later, he was appointed industrial engineering manager where he gained experience in areas such as air, package, building and facilities.
In 2009, he accepted the position of healthcare operations manager, overseeing the opening of UPS Puerto Rico’s new healthcare facility, a critical operation dedicated to meeting the growing supply chain needs of customers in this sector.
In addition, Colón successfully completed many special assignments in Latin America and the Caribbean, establishing UPS operations in Dominican Republic where he led efficiency improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Prior to assuming his new role, Colón was the small package operations manager in Puerto Rico.
“I take on this challenge with the conviction that my operations background and customer focus will help to continue to strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses through UPS’s leading logistics and transportation services,” said Colón. “UPS’s customers are our priority and my task is to provide them with business solutions that offer a higher level of efficiency and further improve the customer experience.”
In addition to his career as a UPS executive, Colón also stands out for his commitment to the community as an active member of United Way since 1994. Last year, he successfully led the annual United Way Campaign in Puerto Rico and he is currently a member of the organization’s Board of Governors.
