P.R. small inns offer variety, discounts for holiday season
The Hix Island House in Vieques is offering a 10 percent discount on bookings for seven nights.
The Puerto Rico Hotel and Tourism Association this week offered a round-up of the offers by the island’s small inns, known as “paradores” during the holiday season, including free nights when booking several nights, meals, moderately priced activities, and discounted rates.
Small hotels and inns in Culebra, Guánica, Maunado, San Juan, Rincón, Orocovis, Ponce, and Vieques, among others, have announced their discounts for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve — key dates for the festivities of this season.
For example, Hostal Casa Culebra, comprised of seven private villas in Culebra, offers three nights for the price of two when booking the days of Dec. 23 and 24, 2016. For its part, the Hix Island House is offering a 10 percent discount on bookings for seven nights.
“Puerto Rico has something for every taste. There is a wide variety on these days throughout the Island because Puerto Rico is much more than just San Juan,” said Juan López, founder of Tropical Inns, the first chain of Puerto Rican inns that includes Parador Palmas de Lucía, Parador Costa del Mar and the Lucía Hotel, all three in Yabucoa; Parador Guánica 1929 in the town with the same name; and Parador Mauna Caribe in Maunabo.
“As an operator of small inns outside the metropolitan area, I know that promotion of the island needs to transcend San Juan and adjacent towns,” he said. “That’s why I support the endeavors by the PRHTA for the past several years to establish in Puerto Rico a ‘Destination Marketing Organization’.”
The DMO will help strengthen efforts to promote Puerto Rico as a destination and stimulate the demand for accommodations outside the metropolitan area, he said.
