Walmart Puerto Rico announced the launch of a campaign in which partners, suppliers, manufacturing, agribusiness representatives and nonprofit entities take part in relating the the “positive impact that the presence of this company on the island has had on their lives and their businesses.”

“Walmart has been in Puerto Rico for more than 22 years and consumers know us as a company where they can get quality merchandise at the best prices in the market,” Viviana Mercado, corporate affairs manager for Walmart said about the “Así es Walmart” (“This is Walmart) campaign.

“But our company is much more than that and through this campaign, the Puerto Rican community will learn in the other ways we contribute to their welfare through real testimonies by Puerto Rican women and men whose personal and professional future was transformed because of their relationship with Walmart Puerto Rico,” she said.

For the campaign, Walmart is launching the www.asieswalmart.com microsite comprising all of the elements of the effort, including video interviews of associates, local entrepreneurs and representatives of nonprofit entities.

Among the testimonials featured in the campaign are several farmers who have been able to increase the variety and quantity of their crops via the Agribusiness Development Program, through which Walmart Puerto Rico purchases from more than 500 local farmers.

Walmart is the island’s largest private employer with 14,500 associates. The campaign was filmed and produced locally by ad agency DDB Latina Puerto Rico.
