Wendy’s reopens at Plaza de Armas in Old San Juan
Wendy’s is reopening in Old San Juan, after remaining closed for a stretch of time.
Fast-food hamburger chain Wendy’s is making its return to Old San Juan, with the reopening of its redesigned spot at Plaza de Armas. The restaurant got a $300,000 makeover and is the first in Puerto Rico to feature the new look, company officials said Thursday.
“We haveremodeled thislocationto better reflectthe brand’s newpersonalitywith modern elementsthat contributeto the urban landscapeof the area,” said Jorge Colón-Gerena, president of Wendy’s in Puerto Rico.
“It is a continuation of our history as innovative industry leaders in the quick service restaurant. In addition to this effort we created about 70 indirect jobs, which helps the economy in area and the island,” he said, noting the Old San Juan eatery will eventually offer free Wi-Fi to customers.
The 4,330 square-foot restaurant was redesigned by local architect firm Evilio Pina & Asociados.
The company’s remodeling strategy includes two other Wendy’s, in Bayamón and Cupey.
