Wyndham Rio Mar completa la transformación del complejo turístico $60M
The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach & Golf Resort has completed a $60 million renovation and will reopen its upgraded facilities on Dec. 17, according to its operator, LionGrove.
The project covers the 607-acre resort in Río Grande, located between El Yunque National Forest and the Atlantic Ocean.
“This transformation celebrates the essence of Puerto Rico — its culture, hospitality and natural beauty — while elevating its position as a world-class tourist destination,” said Andro Nodarse-León, CEO of LionGrove.
“The new Wyndham Grand Rio Mar symbolizes a new era in the island’s hotel industry, where design, gastronomy, entertainment and wellness combine to offer unique experiences to local and international guests,” he said.
Work included renovating 400 rooms and suites, upgrades to three pool areas, new food concepts and the launch of The Vault Speakeasy Cabaret inside the remodeled Casino Rio Mar & Sportsbook Lounge.
The property now has 10 restaurants, including Roots Coastal Kitchen, Palio and Caicu, a lobby bar.
The redesigned El Yunque Spa incorporates local healing traditions, the company said, while sports and recreation offerings include two championship golf courses, a racquet center and five oceanfront pools.
Amenities include the new Aura Adult Swim Lounge, an updated Turtle Cove Adventure Pool and the Coquí Splash Pool for young children.
Resort officials said the changes position the property to serve both tourism and business demand, citing more than 9,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor event space.
The reopening coincides with the holiday season, with scheduled dinners, a New Year’s Gala and activities through Three Kings Day. Local residents will be able to access restaurants, entertainment and other amenities, the company said.
