Evertec gets nod for support to P.R. businesses after Hurricane María
The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (CofC) bestowed its President’s Special Award to Evertec Inc. for the “outstanding and timely support offered to the business sector after Hurricane María.”
The recognition was awarded during the CofC’s gala dinner, which included a special certificate by Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner Jennifer Gonzalez, for Evertec’s work.
“We at Evertec are proud to have received this special recognition from the Chamber of Commerce and the Resident Commissioner,” said Carlos J. Ramírez, executive vice president of sales for Evertec.
“Hurricane María was an unprecedented natural disaster in Puerto Rico. Even though we faced many challenges, we never stopped operating. This award represents the solid commitment we have at Evertec to collaborate with and support our clients ensuring the high availability of our service, despite any adversity,” he said.
In the aftermath of Hurricane María, Evertec led several initiatives to help reactivate the Puerto Rican economy. Through one of these initiatives, “Puerto Rico Ponte en Marcha,” Evertec provided merchants with technological solutions and support so they could restart their operations and process payments as quickly as possible.
“Aware of the importance of the merchants’ role in the recuperation efforts, Evertec not only continued its operations during and after the hurricane but also replaced merchants’ point of sale terminals and donated portable telecommunications equipment so they could continue running their businesses,” company executives said.
“This award is given to recognize the leadership and proactivity of Evertec’s staff providing viable solutions to stabilize electronic transactions for Puerto Rico’s businesses after the passage of Hurricane María,” said CofC President Alicia Lamboy-Mombille.
