Tenants at La Oficina, a shared office space located at the Caribe Building occupied mostly by arrivals under the government’s Law 20/22 incentives programs, recently took part in an event with the Puerto Rico Community Foundation to learn about innovative ways to give back to their new communities.

The event was part of La Oficina Cares program, said Christie Dubón, one of the office’s founding partners.

“In the midst of Puerto Rico’s financial crisis, it’s more important than ever for all of us to find new ways to help foster Puerto Rico’s recovery and progress,” she said. “Considering that many of our tenants have recently relocated to the island, we are proud to serve as a bridge between them and organizations like the Community Foundation who can help maximize the help that anyone is willing to contribute.”

Philanthropic Advisor and Senior Vice President of the Community Foundation, Mary Anne Gabino, presented the 20/22 community of tenants with several of the funds they have helped establish for different sectors on the island. Gabino highlighted funds such as Toyota, Lexus, Stanley and Georgen Pasarell as specific ways they could collaborate with according to client’s and donor’s personal and corporate interests.

“As a philanthropic advisor my role is to understand the philanthropic and social responsibility interests of our clients and help them meet their goal,” she said. “The perpetual funds we have established are a great way to make sure that help continues multiplying for generations to come.”

Gabino will be keeping monthly office hours at La Oficina to be accessible to tenants and any other local parties interested in her guidance and assessment, including possible tax deductions that can potentially benefit donors.
