Financial Board unveils list of presenters for 3rd meeting

The Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico announced the list of presenters tentatively confirmed to appear at its third meeting to be held Friday in Fajardo.

During the entity’s first meeting on the island since its creation under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA), panel participants will offer their comments on the Fiscal and Economic Growth Plan recently presented by the government of Puerto Rico.

Among the presenters, there are economists, representatives of professional associations, trade associations, nonprofits, university student leadership and local bondholders. Furthermore, the Board is awaiting confirmation from other representatives that have been invited, including labor union leaders, the entity said in a statement released Thursday.

The meeting will take place at the Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, where groups opposed to its jurisdiction have announced a protest against the Oversight Board.

The list of presenters inclues: Christian Arvelo-Forteza, law and public administration student, University of Puerto Rico (Río Piedras Campus.) He is a former member of the UPR Governing Board and former president of the general Student Council; Nelson Colón, President of the Puerto Rico Community Foundation; Jorge Irizarry, executive director of Bonistas del Patio; Alicia Lamboy, president-elect of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce; Eric LeCompte, executive director of Jubilee USA; Rodrigo Masses, president of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association; José Orta, president-elect of the Certified Public Accountants Society; Jaime Plá, executive president of the Puerto Rico Hospitals Association; Iván Román, advisor to the Board of the Pharmaceutical Industry Association; José Joaquín Villamil, chairman of Estudios Técnicos; and Andrew Wolfe, of Anne Krueger & Assoc.

On Thursday, the Oversight Board encouraged the public at large to view the meeting, which will stream live, via its website. The audio will be available in both English and Spanish.
