FirstBank hosts educational talk for small-, mid-sized businesses

CPA Gabriel Hernández of the BDO Puerto Rico accounting firm addresses conference participants.

As part of its ongoing support of Puerto Rico’s small and medium businesses, FirstBank offered a seminar Wednesday night to its business customers on “Opportunities for entrepreneurs within the new tax frame,” conducted by CPA Gabriel Hernández of the BDO Puerto Rico accounting firm.

The “Empresarios de Primera” (“First-Class Entrepreneurs”) educational track also included a presentation by economist Gustavo Vélez entitled “Economic Outlook 2013-14,” outlining what is expected from the island’s economy in coming months.

“This is the fourth educational conference we conduct throughout our commercial regions,” said FirstBank President Aurelio Alemán, who was on hand for the event. “Our interest is to provide small and medium business tools to assist them in developing their businesses.”

The group of small- and mid-sized business executives from the San Juan metropolitan region gathered at the Caparra Country Club, where they capped off the evening chatting with Alemán and other FirstBank officers.
