The Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau announced Wednesday the appointment of Milton Segarra-Pancorbo as president and CEO of the nonprofit organization dedicated to driving meetings and conventions to the island. He will begin his tenure in early June.

Segarra will oversee all of the PRCB’s operations, including its offices in San Juan, New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. In addition to directing staff efforts and implementing policies set by the Board, Segarra will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with the organization’s 200+ member-suppliers, local business leaders and elected officials.

“The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau has an outstanding reputation as a forward-thinking leader in the meetings and conventions industry,” Segarra said. “I am proud to carry on the organization’s mission in contributing to Puerto Rico’s vitality as a meetings and conventions destination and am eager to help position Puerto Rico for continued prosperity within this highly-specialized and highly-competitive economic sector.”

Segarra brings to the post a wealth of experience in Puerto Rico’s tourism sector, as well as government, after having served as executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, and secretary of Economic Development and Commerce under the former Gov. Sila Calderón administration.

Segarra has also held various sales, marketing and top management positions with some of Puerto Rico’s largest international hotel brands including Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt Resorts Puerto Rico. Most recently, Segarra worked in business development within the island’s burgeoning medical tourism arena.

“Milton is an extremely accomplished industry leader with extensive experience in the public and private sector,” stated PRCB Chairman Raúl Bustamante. “His understanding of Puerto Rico’s tourism, meetings and conventions market, along with his industry relationships and business acumen make him the ideal individual to lead the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau forward.”

Segarra graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a B.A. in Business Administration, Finance and Marketing. He also attended Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration where he earned a Certificate in Financial Management, and the Ashridge Business Institute in London, where he studied Advanced Hotel Management Principles.
