Technology is always high up on the wish list during the Christmas season and what better way to save than to take advantage of the available sales and discounts on Black Friday. According to the Wall Street Journal, approximately 97 million shoppers are expected to make a purchase during Black Friday and 140 million people are expected to do so in store and online throughout the Thanksgiving weekend.

However, one of the growing trends this pre-holiday season is that many retailers are making their deals available prior to Black Friday, not just online but also in stores throughout the island.

So what will shoppers be looking for this weekend? Here is a quick roundup of locally available deals.

Tablets
iPad Air — This 1-pound marvel is 28 percent lighter and 20 percent thinner than its predecessors. Available with WiFi and WiFi and cellular connection, prices begin at $499.

Nokia Lumia 2520 — This Windows device is equipped with built-in Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as 32GB of internal memory. The full HD display is 10.1 inches and weighs 22 ounces. It has a 6.7 megapixel rear-facing camera with ZEISS optics. The fast-charging battery gives users up to 11 hours of power during video playback and  can reach 80% charge in one hour. Available at AT&T retail outlets for $399.99 with a two-year agreement, or for $199.99 with a two-year agreement when bundled with a Nokia Lumia 925, Nokia Lumia 1020, or Nokia Lumia 1520 smartphone.

Available in shades of pink, green, yellow, blue, and white, this iPhone model is also lighter than its previous counterparts because its casing is made of plastic. Prices begin at $99 for the 16GB model. The iPhone 5S, on the other hand, is a swankier version of its predecessors. With a faster processing chip than the 5C and an 8-megapixel camera, this is a powerful upgrade to the 4S. Available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, prices for this model begin at $199.

LG G2 — boasting a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 800 2.26 Ghz and operated by Jelly Bean Android 4.2.2 version, the LG G2 is available through Claro for $149.99.

Local retail store deals
AT&T — For customers who would prefer to avoid the long lines and shop from their own home, AT&T is making its deals available online on Thanksgiving day, including a free Samsung Galaxy S III mini.  If you do decide to make your purchases in-store on Black Friday, you can trade in your current phone for a new one and save at least $100 on your next device. Many small items will also be on sale until Cyber Monday in-store and online.

iShop — iShop Puerto Rico announced an innovative financing program for the purchase of items in the Apple family through Banco Popular. This 0 percent APR financing for six months debuts just before the arrival of Christmas, so that customers can buy and give Apple computers and accessories preferred by the market. Funding can be obtained in the shops and restrictions may apply. Visit the store to learn about their deals on laptops, tablets, smartphones and music players. From Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, iShop Puerto Rico will open its stores in San Patricio Plaza at 7 a.m., Las Catalinas Mall at 5 a.m. and Mayagüez Mall at 8 a.m.

Claro — Claro will give customers who sign up for a home Internet plan of 10 megabytes or more a tablet with WiFi connectivity. In addition, the company launched an extensive portfolio of PCs and tablets, which are available with monthly payments beginning at $7.50 a month when the customer subscribes to an Internet plan.
