The House, Wine, Beer & More store opens in Condado
The House, Wine, Beer & More, a 6,200 square-foot haven for wine, beers and spirits lovers will open in the Condado sector of San Juan today, to offer more than 1,000 wines and sparkling wines of different wine regions and hundreds of beers and spirits from around the world, company executives announced. The new shop entailed a $1 million investment.
“We are very pleased with the store that, starting [today], we will be open to consumers. The House, Wine, Beer & More offers a variety of wines, beers and spirits that are not available under the same roof anywhere else on the island, at extremely competitive prices,” said José Revuelta, who heads the operation located above the SuperMax grocery store on De Diego Avenue.
“Also, it is located in a very accessible place with good lighting, security and ample parking. Finally, we are very proud of the service team we have been able to gather for this store. Led by certified sommelier, Javier Rodríguez, we have a group of professionals trained to guide and serve the customer when selecting their drink of choice,” he said.
The House, Wine, Beer & More will feature wine reviews and ratings issued by Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, which is important for wine connoisseurs, he said. In addition, the temperature of the store can be controlled to ensure the quality of this type of product.
“We know how important it is for the consumer for the wines and drinks they buy to have the guarantee of being well kept at the right temperature,” said Rodríguez. “Also, for beer lovers, we will have the largest variety of craft and domestic beer available in the market.”
Among other offerings, the new business will allow consumers can create their own six pack of beer, and will have access to a variety of accessories — from corkscrews and bottle stoppers for wine and sparkling wine, to decanters, among others.
The store also features a demo kitchen, known as The Academy, space for 40 people were they will conduct wine and beer tastings, pairings, as well as culinary classes with renowned chefs. This area will also be available for private activities.
Won’t they be in direct competition to Supermax wine/beer and deli area?
Not really. It is run by the same people that run the Supermax wine area. I chatted with the manager a couple days before they opened and was informed that they saw it as a way to upsell customers who were unsatisfied with the limited selection downstairs and wanted something nicer, without having to eat into their limited retail space downstairs.
