Telecommunications service provider joined INprende to bestow an award recognizing young entrepreneur Pedro Anibarro, a student at Turabo University, during the recent College Entrepreneurship Summit.

The award — a Dell Inspiron computer and a one-year license for Office 365 — seeks to help the winner take his company to market.

“As the main telecommunications provider on the island, we have the responsibility to support emerging entrepreneurs by providing technological tools to facilitate their development,” said Ileana Molina-Bachman, Claro’s director of marketing, corporate relations and advertising.

“Joining INPrende in this special event helps us to continue contributing to our mission of connecting Puerto Rico to a better future,” she said. “It is these companies that will move the island’s economy and generate jobs. They represent an important segment in the island’s economic recovery. We congratulate the Pedro Anibarro and wish him continued success.”

The winner’s business project consisted of an application and intelligent dish for dogs, which seeks to control portions and protect the food, to help eliminate canine obesity. The College Entrepreneurship Summit brought together 100 outstanding students chosen during the University Entrepreneurship Tour held annually by INprende.

“At INprende we are honored to have Claro’s support in this effort to promote college entrepreneurship,” said Alessandra Correa, founder of INprende.

“It is vital that private companies take a leading role in supporting young people who wish to contribute to our island through the development of their business ideas. We bet on entrepreneurship as an antidote to the crisis,” she said.
