Inter American University hosting global economy forum

The Business Administration Masters program of the Inter American University in Arecibo will be hosting a panel discussion on the “Implications of Globalization on Puerto Rico’s Economy,” to present the impact of recent changes in the international economy, and exchange ideas and analysis on how to address them.

Invited speakers include economist Gustavo Vélez, president of Inteligencia Económica, Former Economic Development and Commerce Secretary Bartolomé Gamundi — who will share his perspective and experience in local and global business — and Mario Marazzi, executive director of the Puerto Rico Statistics Institute. Francisco Pérez, economist and professor at the Inter American’s Department of Economics and Management, will moderate the panel discussion.

Among the topics to be discussed are: adjustments and changes in local economic activity considering the global economic situation, emerging countries and business sectors, economic projections for 2012, and how the business sector can address the challenges brought on by the economy.

The event is free of charge and will take place Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Arecibo campus’ amphitheater. For more information and registration, call 787-878-5475 extension 2551 or 2553.
