Liberty offers tool to track time, distance at WB 10K race

Liberty Time Tracker bannerLiberty Puerto Rico will have a presence during the 2014 World’s Best 10K as the sponsor of the Liberty Time Tracker, the race’s official monitoring system. The 17th edition of the World’s Best 10K will take place at the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge, Feb. 23.

The Liberty Time Tracker costs $3 for race participants, but Liberty customers can access it for free. To use Liberty Time Tracker, customers should access www.libertypr.com and enter MyLiberty. There, they will receive four codes to activate the Liberty Time Tracker service, in addition to a link through which they can register their mobile phones with their World’s Best 10K registration number. Each participant can enter up to four registration numbers and one mobile phone unit for each number.

The monitoring system works through the World’s Best 10K’s official chip and will read the chip at certain points during the race, sending a text message to the mobile phone unit with the runners’ time and distance they have covered, plus data on their performance. Standard fees for text messages from the participants’ own mobile phone carriers may apply.

Liberty will have a booth to help participants configure their Liberty Time Trackers when they pick up their chips at the Fitness Fest, which will be held at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Hato Rey Feb. 21-22.

“This is one of the many ways in which we bring innovation to our customers’ daily lives,” said Naji Khoury, president and CEO of Liberty Puerto Rico. “Through this monitoring system, participants can measure their performance in the race and motivate themselves to improve their participation and their physical condition.”

Liberty has been a sponsor of the World’s Best 10K since 2013.
