Microsoft holds job fair to find interns
Microsoft Puerto Rico will host a job fair starting at 3 p.m. today at its City View Plaza offices seeking interns in the areas of engineering, communications, computer/information systems, business administration, human resources and graphic arts. The event is in support of Banco Santander’s “U-Work” program and the Youth Affairs Office’s “Juvempleo” initiative, the company said.
The software company is seeking to fill 80 internship slots in local technology firms, most of which belong to the International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners and several clients, including Claro, that have expressed an interest in joining the initiative.
“Our interest is that young people between 18 and 29 years see the job and career growth options that these companies offer in different areas without having to leave Puerto Rico,” said Yamille Morales, director of new technologies at Microsoft Puerto Rico. “This is an opportunity to continue their development while helping to strengthen the island’s economy by preventing brain drain.”
To be eligible, participants must be regular senior-year college students working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree and be a U.S. citizen or legal resident. They must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and not be employed by any local government agency.
