The National University College Arecibo campus and the Arecibo Radiotelescope have signed a special agreement designating the latter facility as the new internship center for students enrolled in Telecommunications Electronic Engineering associate degree courses.

Six students will begin their terms at the Observatory starting next month and must comply with a minimum of 225 practice hours. Students must carry out radio frequency projects, electronics, and installation of transmitters, among other tasks. The project, conducted jointly for the first time with the Arecibo facility will be led by NUC Arecibo Prof. Víctor Dávila-Negrón.

The Arecibo Observatory is part of the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center, a research center operated by SRI International, the Metropolitan University (part of the Ana G. Méndez University System) and the University Space Research Association based in Columbia, Md.
