Open Mobile appoints new COO

Open Mobile's newly appointed COO, Federico Grosso

Wireless carrier Open Mobile announced Monday the appointment of Federico Grosso as chief operating officer of the company as it embarks on adopting and deploying its next-generation 4G LTE network.

“During this transition, our primary focus will continue to be service at the highest standard and successfully leading the key projects such as launching 4G LTE.  Our consumers will enjoy a unique experience and fast mobile communication and data transmission,” said Grosso.

The wireless operator, which since June 2007 has latched on to Puerto Rico’s no contract wireless service niche, will migrate to its $250 million 4G LTE network during the first quarter of this year, as News is my Business reported.

The carrier has the expectation of increasing its customer base by between 15 percent and 20 percent as a result, Grosso said.

“We are very optimistic about what the future holds for Open Mobile. Directing it to meet the goals and objectives we have set and continue mobile communication development in Puerto Rico will be first and foremost,” Grosso said.

The appointment of the new executive will not change the company’s structure, or affect its 565 employees, he said.
