Payless ShoeSource donates new shoes for Christmas
Some 730 children participating in programs run by several Puerto Rico nonprofits recently received gift cards from Payless ShoeSource as part of its “Shoes 4Kids” program, which seeks to help and deliver cheer to needy kids islandwide.
“‘Shoes 4Kids is an initiative we’ve been pursuing on an international level and in Puerto Rico for several years,” said Arthur Asseo, director of operations for Payless ShoeSource Puerto Rico. “It’s the best way to let our public, our customers know how grateful we are for their support; and what better way to show that than by helping those who need it most, our kids.”
Among the nonprofits participating this year were: San Jorge Children’s Hospital, Hogar Cuna San Cristóbal, SER de Puerto Rico, and Casa Familiar Virgilio Dávila.
As part of the initiative, the retailer handed out gift cards to about 20 kids who visited the Plaza Las Américas location, who got to try on shoes.
“This fills us with great satisfaction, especially seeing the smile on these kids when they receive the donation,” Asseo said. “That said, as long as we can, we will continue conducting this event every year to deliver joy and hope to the neediest children.”
