PRMA to host Quest 2014 best practices competition

The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association announced Tuesday that it will host Quest 2014, a competition, a world-class continuous improvement competition on this Friday at the Polytechnic University in Hato Rey.

Quest 2014 is an initiative that has been taking place for 11 years as a forum for organizations seeking to better their competitiveness through continuous improvement, said Jaime García, PRMA executive director.

In this event, participating companies unveil projects they have carried out to improve product quality, reduce operating costs, solve problems affecting his performance and/or reduce their environmental footprint, among others, said Roberto Jiménez, president of Professional Excellence Quest Corp. and director of the program.

Companies participating in Quest are divided into the following categories: manufacturing, service, energy and supply chain. Teams can use”Lean” and “Six Sigma” troubleshooting methodologies or any other continuous improvement technique or tool. The achievements expected are: reduced inventories, reduced cycle time, improved product quality, reduced process variability, improved resource utilization, improved customer service, reduced cost of transportation or storage, among others.
