Banco Santander Puerto Rico recently awarded $9.3 million in financing for the development of the San Germán Surf and Fun Waterpark planned for that municipality.

“For Santander it is a great satisfaction to promote projects like this one through which we not only support the economic development of an area, but provide the community an area the family can enjoy,” said Lilian Diaz, director of institutional banking at Santander.

These funds will help Mayor Isidro Negrón-Irizarry, to give continuity to the government’s plan and finalize the flagship project for summer 2013, the municipal official said.

“This is a historic financing for San Germán, which will allow us to build a recreational area where our families can come together and attract tourists and visitors to our town,” the Mayor said.

The planned water park will be located on approximately 20 acres of land and will feature a wave pool, a lazy river, a surf machine, slides and interactive play area for children. The total cost of the project that is expected to open in the summer of 2013 is $12.5 million, this media outlet learned.
