Scotiabank de Puerto Rico recently granted $5 million in financing to Auxilio Mutuo Hospital to help purchase special Variam Medical Systems equipment for the institution’s radiotherapy center.

This novel technology is exclusive to the hospital and was designed to accurately deliver high doses, while carefully targeting tumors and providing better ability to avoid surrounding healthy tissue and organs.

“We’re pleased to play an important role so the hospital can continue to grow and expand its offer to cancer patients. Providing customers with tools to continue their growth is our priority and for Auxilio Mutuo Hospital, having this machine represents an opportunity to provide more and better services to their patients,” said Rafael Flores, senior vice president of Commercial and Corporate Banking for Scotiabank.

The medical institution, which has served Puerto Rico for 130 years, hopes to soon start offering medical services with the new equipment for the benefit of the hundreds of patients seen per month.
