Starbucks Refreshment Destination, a unique beachfront kiosk that opened recently at the Caribe Hilton hotel, is the first of its kind to serve its customers while they sunbathe, hotel said.

“We continue adding ‘firsts’ to our property, the Caribe Hilton. Hilton was the first hotel built and opened outside the United States [mainland] in 1949. We’re the headquarters of our famous piña colada created in 1954. We were the first hotel in Puerto Rico that has had a Starbucks since 2005 and now we’re the first hotel in the world with a Starbucks on the beach,” said José Campo, general manager of the San Juan resort.

The Starbucks Refreshment Destination will be operational year-round and is a satellite of the store at the lobby, which is also one of the chain’s best performing locations, said Virginia Rivera, chief marketing and brand executive at Starbucks Puerto Rico.

“Starbucks Refreshment Destination is the perfect choice for those wanting coffee and who also want to beat the heat. In addition, the company continues to innovate, creating jobs and serving our customers wherever they are,” Rivera said.

The beachfront store offers iced, blended and hot drinks and serves pastries and other snacks.
