Just a few months after its Mar. 26 grand opening in Puerto Rico, The Mall of San Juan has introduced eight new stores, the majority of which are exclusive to the market. Mall officials said Tuesday that more than 20 additional stores and restaurants are scheduled to debut this year.

“Our goal is to offer an unparalleled shopping and dining experience for our diverse customer base,” said Marnie Marquina, marketing and sponsorship director, The Mall of San Juan. “We will continue to expand our presence with a coveted mix of brands – many of which will not be found anywhere else in the market.”

The eight new stores at The Mall of San Juan are: women’s clothing retailer BCBG Max Azria; Evocent, a handcrafted jewelry and accessories shop; Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, which offers handmade hair and beauty products; Swiss watch manufacturer Omega; Perfume Plus, which specializes in brand-name fragrances, products and cosmetics; Brow Art 23, dedicated to offering beauty and skin care services; Invicta, a retailer of watches and jewelry for men and women; and Zara, a fashion brand of apparel and accessories for women, men and kids.

The Mall of San Juan, offering 630,000 square feet of shops and restaurants, is anchored by the only Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom in the Caribbean.

In addition to its retail lineup, the mall features a third-level outdoor terrace where guests can dine, experience live entertainment and enjoy the view of San José Lagoon. It also offers an interactive children’s play area.

Sophie’s launches new Sunday brunch menu
In related news, the newly opened restaurant Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue, will launch a new Sunday brunch menu on June 14, company executives said.

The offer will introduce new classics, such as the Lobster Omelette (fresh lobster on local mushrooms, watercress, and crème fraiche) and will feature creative takes on some favorites, like the Ottawa Salmon Cake Benedict (a jumbo salmon cake topped with local greens, poached egg, and creamy hollandaise).

New cocktails crafted with the local crowd in mind, will also be added to the offer. Brunch will be served on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The new dishes carry Sophie’s culinary style where simple, locally sourced ingredients are the main attraction of the contemporary American fare menu, company representatives said. The new proposal includes light fare such as the Granola and Yogurt Triffle, made with fresh seasonal fruits and Puerto Rican honey, as well as other more filling dishes like the Chorizo Scramble or the French Toast, made with Kasalta Mallorca bread.

“This new culinary offer sustains our support to the local market using fresh, local ingredients, and retains the unique simplicity of our dishes which guests have come to love. This addition elevates the Sophie’s experience with new creative dishes that will surely amaze diners all over again”, said Rubén Álvarez, general manager.

To complete the brunch experience, Sophie’s expert mixologists have created a list of brunch cocktails including the Lemon Drop Champagne and flavored mimosas in soursop, guava and mango flavors.

Sophie’s is located on the second floor of Saks Fifth Avenue, next to the Fifth Avenue Club.
