HackPR, a nonprofit comprised of students and young professionals promoting the development of technical skills through unconventional teaching methods, will host its 6th annual “hackathon” Sept. 24-25, expected to draw students to work on ideas and projects.
With the goal of promoting technology as an economic hub for the island, government officials representing the Chief Information Office and the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, announced Tuesday the second edition of the Puerto Rico Tech Summit, slated for June 4 at the Convention Center in Miramar.
The second edition of Puerto Rico’s biggest student-run hackathon, “HackPR,” took place over the weekend in Mayagüez, allowing technology amateurs and professionals showcase their skills before big name companies like Microsoft and Google, and also to local start-ups that are in the lookout for new talent that can satisfy their technological needs.
