Techbiz.mobi program back for another round

Logo-TechbizMobiCiti Foundation and the Central Eastern Technological Initiative, or Inteco, announced Tuesday the return of “Techbiz.mobi,” a techno-educational program designed to teach 18 to 25-year-olds to create mobile apps for the Android mobile operating system and learn to market them online.

“We want to continue encouraging entrepreneurship and an interest in technology-related businesses,” said Guillermo Gómez, President of Citi for Puerto Rico and an Inteco board member. “About 60 young people have already participated in this program during which they have created about mobile applications that are available in the ‘Google Play’ store,” he said.

The enrollment period for the spring 2013 session opened Tuesday. No technical experience is necessary to participate. Those interested should enter the organization’s website and complete an application by Feb. 11, 2013 that includes a short 200-word essay explaining why they believe they should be selected for the program. The 30 chosen students will be notified by e-mail Feb. 12, 2013.

Techbiz.mobi lasts 50 hours and will be held at the Turabo University’s International School of Design during six consecutive Saturdays from Feb. 16 to March 23, 2013.
