Top Oriental exec joins ICANN committee

Ganesh Kumar (Credit: ICANN)

Oriental Financial Group’s Executive Vice President and CEO, Ganesh Kumar, was selected as a member of an at-large advisory committee (ALAC) from the North American region of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

The position became vacant following the resignation of the at-large member chosen last year. Kumar will take up his position with the ALAC immediately and will serve for the remainder of the current term, ending at the 2012 ICANN Annual General Meeting.

ALAC is one of the four “advisory committees” that makes recommendations and provides advice to ICANN, representing the community of average Internet users. The other three committees represent governments and international treaty organizations, root server operators, and those concerned with Internet security.

Kumar joined Oriental in 2004, after leading successful business development efforts in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States. He specializes in leading strategic planning, large-scale organizational change efforts, and deploying several technology- and Internet-enabled initiatives.
