Airport Shoppes expands self-order kiosks at SJU airport
Airport Shoppes said it has expanded the number of self-service food ordering stations at Puerto Rico’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport to 19 with the installation of four additional terminals in the Terminal A food court.
The new kiosks include two units at El Mesón, one at Popeyes and one at Carl’s Jr., according to the company.
Juan Seijo, general manager of operations at Airport Shoppes, said the expansion builds on the introduction of the first four self-ordering terminals at the Udon restaurant in 2022, which he said reduced wait times for passengers.
“With the installation of these new ‘self-ordering kiosks’ we complete the project of stations that allow passengers to order, pay for their food and beverages and then pick them up without having to go through a cashier,” Seijo said.
“We know our passengers travel in a hurry, and we’re committed to making their airport experience faster, more comfortable and enjoyable,” he added.
Airport Shoppes said the addition of self-service kiosks aligns with its broader use of automated retail technology at the airport, including cashierless store concepts that allow customers to enter, select products and exit using credit card payment systems.
