Barras soaps debut on Walmart Puerto Rico shelves

Barras, a Puerto Rican artisanal soap brand, has expanded into Walmart Puerto Rico, marking a new chapter in its growth.
Founded in 2016 by Tanairí Miranda-Torres, Barras began in her grandmother’s kitchen with batches of 20 bars. Today the company produces more than 10,000 bars a month and is sold in chains including Farmacias Caridad and PharmaMax.
Its arrival at Walmart strengthens its retail presence and underscores its mission to show that products made in Puerto Rico can compete globally, company officials said.
“The mission of Barras is to offer personal care products that inspire wellness, authenticity and Puerto Rican pride, with the vision of becoming the leading artisanal soap brand in the Caribbean and the United States,” Miranda-Torres said. “Every bar that reaches your hands is more than just soap; it’s proof that what is made in Puerto Rico has world-class quality.”
The company expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic through online sales, which helped strengthen its team and reach markets outside Puerto Rico. Among its products is the Makeup Remover Soap Bar, now carried at Walmart.
“Behind every local product lies a story of dreams, dedication and hope. At Walmart Puerto Rico, we are honored to be the partner that supports our suppliers in their growth, providing opportunities that benefit us all,” said Coral Cummings, director of government relations and public affairs at Walmart Puerto Rico.
Barras plans to continue expanding into Walmart stores in the mainland U.S., launch exclusive retail products and grow its Creciendo como Espuma Foundation, which supports local entrepreneurs.
