Café Cibales unveils new premium packaging to reach broader markets

The Cooperativa AgroComercial de Puerto Rico has introduced redesigned packaging for Café Cibales, its flagship coffee brand, combining visual appeal, product protection and a nod to tradition.
“This new packaging is more than an aesthetic upgrade,” said Moisés Reyes, executive president of the cooperative. “We wanted something that would better protect the product, be more practical, and, at the same time, convey who we are and our cooperative philosophy.”
The update marks the first major redesign in 15 years. The new packaging features a zipper closure and a one-way valve to help maintain freshness and aroma, along with a reinforced internal structure that protects against humidity and air exposure. The material was also selected for durability.
Visually, the design introduces modern graphics and gold-stamped finishes to reflect a premium image, while preserving ties to the cooperative’s history. The story of Café Cibales — produced by Puerto Rico’s oldest cooperative and the only one that grows and processes coffee commercially — remains visible on every package.
“Design isn’t just a visual aspect. It’s a statement of who we are and where we’re going,” Reyes said. “We want our customers to feel proud when they see Café Cibales on the shelves, knowing that behind that packaging lies history, dedication and coffee of incomparable quality.”
The new packaging line also includes updated sizes to better align with changing consumer habits and lifestyle preferences.
