It has been a little more than three years since the W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island opened its doors, and ever since then, it has become one of the most coveted properties by the world’s most discerning travelers, who will apparently spare no expense when it comes to vacationing in the lap of luxury.
The Puerto Rico Tourism Co. announced Wednesday it has activated its contingency plan to address the closing of a number of federal offices and facilities frequented by tourist, including the El San Felipe del Morro fort in Old San Juan and the El Yunque National Rainforest.
Group business represents one-quarter of room nights booked at Puerto Rico’s top 10 largest meeting hotels, while the top market segments choosing the island for their meetings are corporate (41 percent), associations (34 percent) and social, military, educational, religious, fraternal organizations (25 percent), Milton Segarra, president of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau said Wednesday.
