Chick-fil-A opens in Caguas, creating 145 jobs

Chick-fil-A is expanding in Puerto Rico with new restaurants offering dine-in, carry-out, drive-thru and delivery services.

Chick-fil-A will open a new restaurant in Caguas on June 19, bringing approximately 145 jobs to the community and expanding the company’s presence in Puerto Rico to seven locations.

The 4,980-square-foot restaurant, located at Plaza Centro, will offer a full-service dining experience, a multi-lane covered drive-thru, carry-out service and third-party delivery through Uber Eats. The location is operated by Miguel “Mike” Nieves, a local resident and military veteran.

“Visiting several Chick-fil-A restaurants over the years and experiencing their genuine hospitality and culture for care — along with the support of my wife — inspired me to become an operator and create a place that makes a difference in people’s lives,” Nieves said in a statement.

Nieves, who was raised between Fort Hood, Texas, and Patillas, Puerto Rico, brings more than two decades of leadership and military experience to the role. He now lives in Caguas and said he is committed to contributing to the community through employment opportunities and partnerships with local organizations.

To mark the opening, Chick-fil-A Plaza Centro will honor 100 local heroes from Hogar Cuna San Cristóbal and the Municipio Autónomo de Caguas with free entrées for a year. The restaurant will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, which donates surplus food to local nonprofits.

The Caguas location will offer menu items exclusive to Puerto Rico, including a breakfast platter and locally sourced, barista-style coffee options such as latte, cortado, Americano and espresso.
