Claro tops Puerto Rico rankings for fastest fixed internet, mobile coverage

Claro Puerto Rico has been recognized as the island’s top provider in both fixed internet speed and mobile coverage, according to reports from two global analysis firms for the first half of 2025.
Ookla awarded the company “Best fixed network,” “Fastest fixed network” and, for the second consecutive year, “Best fixed gaming experience,” citing stability, speed and online performance.
Opensignal named Claro the winner of its “Best mobile coverage” award for the first time, scoring 9.2 in its coverage experience metric. The study, conducted between March 1 and May 29, measured network availability in populated areas “where signal is reasonably expected,” which the company said reflects actual user connectivity.
“These awards validate our commitment to innovation and constant investment,” said Enrique Ortiz de Montellano, CEO of Claro Puerto Rico. “Our fiber optics are not only crowned as the best gaming experience, but it is also the only one in Puerto Rico that offers symmetrical speeds of up to 1,000 megabytes, both upstream and downstream.”
Claro said its performance was supported by expanding millimeter-band 5G, strengthening backup power systems and continuous network upgrades.
The company plans to invest more than $160 million in 2025 to expand 5G, extend fiber optic coverage and improve network reliability. Claro’s fiber network now reaches more than 700,000 homes and businesses, offering upload speeds equal to download speeds.
