E Health Partners acquires Assertus to expand digital health leadership

E Health Partners has acquired Assertus Holdings in a strategic merger that consolidates two of Puerto Rico’s leading health technology firms, aiming to strengthen digital health infrastructure and expand into international markets.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal brings together E Health Partners’ EHRez electronic health records (EHR) platform — used by 3,000 providers and 15,000 users — with Assertus’ ProClaim billing system and Assertus Clearinghouse, which processes about 45 million claims annually for more than 4,500 providers. Assertus also recently launched the Medicus EHR system, now used by nearly 1,000 providers.
José Bengoa, CEO of E Health Partners, said the company’s success stems from providing “the most comprehensive solution on the market, backed by personalized, excellent service that is unprecedented in the industry.”
Michael Jiménez, co-founder of Assertus, said the firms share similar values and operating cultures. “Integrating our strengths will allow us to elevate our services to a new level,” he said.
Together, the companies will operate one of the largest health tech platforms in Puerto Rico. EHRez currently manages medical records for more than 1.3 million patients, supports nearly 8 million clinical encounters and handles more than 12 million electronic prescriptions each year.
The merged entity will focus on centralized data exchange through its Conecta platform, which is expected to serve as Puerto Rico’s Health Information Exchange. The company also plans to expand into the Caribbean, Central and South America, where electronic health records adoption remains in early stages.
