Arby’s expands Puerto Rico footprint with 8th restaurante

Arby’s sandwich chain continues to expand its footprint in Puerto Rico with the opening of its eighth restaurant located in Hatillo, following a $2.8 million investment.

The restaurant generated 100 indirect jobs during the construction stage and will create some 60 direct jobs, company officials said.

The chain plans to open five new restaurants throughout Puerto Rico during 2023.

Located on Road #2 in Hatillo, the chain’s new restaurant spans 2,600 square feet, which will provide capacity for 45 customers. The new Arby’s location follows the “freestanding” establishment format with a drive-thru.

“With the opening of our eighth Arby’s restaurant, we validate our commitment to continuous and consistent expansion,” said Carlos Budet, president of Fransglobal, Arby’s franchisor in Puerto Rico.

“We set the opening of an eighth location as our goal looking toward the expansion scheduled for 2023 and we have achieved it,” he said. “The support we have received has been the basis to visualize the sustained growth that we continue to see.”

Like the other Arby’s restaurants on the Island, it offers the specialties of its menu of 22 sandwiches, wraps, shakes and sides.

Arby’s operates more than 150 restaurants in seven countries outside of the United States.

In Puerto Rico, it has restaurants in Plaza Cayey, San Patricio Village in Guaynabo, Plaza Las Américas, Plaza Del Caribe, Santa Isabel, Plaza Escorial in Carolina and in Río Bayamón.

I went to Arby’s in Hatillo on 7/6/23 and the cashier kept telling me that my credit card “does not work” after they made 3 attempts. The first time I put my card into the little computer, it accepted and instructed me to remove the card. However, the cashier kept insisting that it’s not working. A manager came over and told me to use another card but I refused since I knew that this charge was already accepted. So I left without my sandwiches.
When I got to my home, I checked with my bank and Arby had put a charge through for $16.94.
I went back and again I’m approached now by 2 managers and they refused to acknowledge that I had called my bank and the charge had gone through and that I wanted my sandwiches since they had already charged me.
They continued to say and make a scene in front of all other customers saying that my card did not work and that now they have proof that they credited my account.
So, it seems like it got a little more complicated now that the manager is saying I’m getting a credit when they originally said that my card did not work.
I notified my bank so now I have to wait for them to dispute this charge since my food was never given to me.
But my point here is, the manager was very rude and basically did not care about the dispute in front of other customers. This is really poor PR for Arby’s and I will never return to this business again.
I just want a credit for merchandise not received.
