Esperanza Para Puerto Rico launches relief drive
Esperanza Para Puerto Rico, a new community organization, will hold its first food and hygiene relief drive Nov. 1 at Plaza de Luquillo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event, coordinated by founder Cherryll González, aims to assist more than 100 families in Puerto Rico’s northeast region.
“In these challenging times many households are still facing food insecurity and lack of basic hygiene supplies,” González said. “Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.”
Residents and businesses are encouraged to participate by donating nonperishable foods such as rice, beans, canned goods, coffee, pasta, sugar and powdered milk; by contributing monetary donations to cover food purchases and transportation; or by volunteering for two- to three-hour shifts.
Organizers are also collecting hygiene items, diapers and cleaning supplies.
The collected goods will be distributed during the event, which will also include hot meals and an assistance table where families can request follow-up support.
Esperanza Para Puerto Rico plans to expand its efforts beyond Luquillo through partnerships with volunteers and local businesses to strengthen community resilience and food security in the region.
