Puerto Rico will once again serve as the hub of the Caribbean cruise industry when it hosts the 31st annual Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Convention Oct. 20-24 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center.

Organizers expect more than 700 attendees, including senior executives from more than 100 international cruise lines, and project about $5 million in immediate economic impact.

“The selection of Puerto Rico as the host for the FCCA’s annual conference places the island at the center of the market and showcases it as a solid destination for successfully hosting this type of event,” said Gov. Jenniffer González.

She noted that the gathering comes as the island projects a record $170 million in cruise-related economic activity for fiscal 2025. “With this convention, we reaffirm our growth path,” she said.

At a press conference announcing the event, Willianette Robles-Cancel, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, emphasized the convention’s potential to strengthen long-term ties with cruise operators.

“This convention will lay the groundwork for continuing to implement the priorities and strategies established by the administration … with the goal of strengthening the cruise industry’s confidence in Puerto Rico as a leading destination in the Caribbean,” she said.

The FCCA conference is regarded as the industry’s premier forum for shaping policy and investment. Cruise line executives and tourism officials will meet to discuss security, port infrastructure, supply chains and visitor experience.

According to FCCA executives, the event is “an opportunity to establish a relationship with the executives who decide where ships stop, what’s sold onboard, and how to invest in destinations and infrastructure.”

Beyond boardroom talks, the event is designed to showcase Puerto Rico’s tourism offerings directly to decision-makers. Organizers said the convention could help expand pre- and post-cruise packages and attract new passenger flows to the region.

The FCCA represents 23 cruise lines, including Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Disney, Norwegian, Princess, Holland America, Celebrity, Regent Seven Seas and Virgin Voyages.

Their participation, officials said, is expected to yield new agreements, investment commitments and collaborations to benefit Puerto Rico’s tourism sector and wider economy.
