Firstsource acquires TeleMedik to expand healthcare reach
Firstsource Solutions Limited has acquired TeleMedik, a Puerto Rico-based health care technology developer, to strengthen its digital capabilities and expand its reach across U.S. health care payer and provider markets. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Firstsource said the acquisition enhances its end-to-end clinical and utilization management capabilities and expands its footprint across payer-provider networks. The deal also strengthens its integrated Business Process as a Service (BPaaS++) offering for health plan clients, as insurers face higher utilization, rising costs and pressure to shift toward value-based care models.
By combining digital and generative artificial intelligence tools with clinical operations and utilization management, Firstsource aims to support health plans seeking to modernize the medical management lifecycle — from intake and authorization to care coordination, clinical intervention and ongoing member engagement — without requiring major internal investments.
The acquisition brings together Firstsource’s automation and AI platforms with TeleMedik’s operational presence in Puerto Rico and the mainland United States. The companies said the combined capabilities are intended to help health plans improve quality, reduce administrative costs and enhance experiences for members and providers.
“Firstsource remains committed to driving innovation and disruption in the health care space with intelligent automation and emerging technologies,” said Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of RPSG Group and Firstsource. “This strategic acquisition further elevates our capabilities and amplifies our reach across the industry.”
TeleMedik President Joaquín Fernández-Quintero said the company’s digital-first model aligns with Firstsource’s strategy.
“We look forward to joining the Firstsource family and leveraging the company’s global reach, deep technology investments and expanded delivery capabilities,” Fernández-Quintero said.
The transaction strengthens Firstsource’s access to the U.S. payer-provider ecosystem, particularly in Puerto Rico, and supports services for Medicaid, Medicare Advantage and dual-eligible populations, including Spanish-speaking and underserved communities.
Company officials said the combined organization will deliver integrated utilization management, care and disease management, population health and telemedicine-enabled interventions through a unified operating model designed to improve efficiency, consistency and health outcomes.
