Gastronomic Fest raises funds to support pediatric patients
The Puerto Rico Children’s Foundation recently celebrated its 30th anniversary by hosting its annual fundraising event, Gastronomic Fest 2025, at the Sheraton Hotel in San Juan.
The festival brought together local companies, sponsors and culinary talent to raise funds that support access to health services and treatments for children and young people across the island.
This year’s edition featured eight chefs from Marriott hotels in Puerto Rico, who collaborated to offer a diverse culinary experience. The event also included exhibits highlighting the stories of pediatric patients and families served by the foundation, along with live tropical music by the La Fortuna orchestra.
The foundation noted the continued support of the Marriott Business Council and 17 sponsors whose contributions help sustain the event. Among them were Pediatric Aid, San Jorge Hospital, Puerto Rico Children’s Hospital, Genera PR, Genesis, Walmart, MCS, Commercial Centers Management, Puerto Rico Federal Credit Union, Toledo Laboratories, the Municipality of San Juan, Rooms To Go, Indulac, the Puerto Rico Tourism Co., Walgreens, Signs and Media and Goya Coconut Water.
For three decades, the foundation — formerly known as the San Jorge Children’s Foundation — has focused on improving the quality of life of children and young adults up to age 21 diagnosed with cancer, malformations, chronic illnesses and other health conditions. Its work centers on ensuring continuity of treatment and care, particularly for services not covered by medical plans.
Beyond medical services, the foundation provides educational continuity for patients who cannot attend school because of their diagnosis, offering instruction in the hospital or at home. It also covers psychological, psychiatric and palliative care services, helping families manage the emotional and clinical challenges of long-term pediatric health needs.
