Gestos Positivos, ATH Móvil double Giving Day impact
Fundación Gestos Positivos Econo and ATH Móvil reached their Giving Day goal, distributing $20,000 to two nonprofit organizations focused on the health and well-being of children and youth in Puerto Rico, the organizations announced.
The funds were raised through a Giving Tuesday campaign conducted on the ATH Móvil platform under the theme “A positive gesture is worth double.” Donations made through the platform were matched, allowing the initiative to double the value of individual contributions.
The beneficiary organizations were the Fields of Joy Foundation and the Puerto Rico Children’s Foundation, both of which work with vulnerable children and young people.
The Puerto Rico Children’s Foundation provides access to medical services for children and youth diagnosed with cancer, congenital malformations or chronic conditions, with the goal of improving quality of life and long-term development.
Fields of Joy focuses on children’s and youth mental health through education, awareness and efforts to reduce stigma related to emotional well-being.
“Thanks to the matching of ATH Móvil, the impact on the organizations participating in this initiative will be greater,” said Nydia Fernández, executive director of the Fundación Gestos Positivos Econo. “We invite all Puerto Ricans to join us in this positive gesture that will make a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
ATH Móvil matched donations received through Dec. 2, up to a maximum of $10,000, increasing the overall reach of the Giving Tuesday campaign.
Sylvette Ramos-Figueroa, senior vice president and director of payment services at Evertec, said the initiative reflects a shared focus on community support.
“By matching donations, we are directly supporting the children and youth of Puerto Rico,” she said.
Leaders of the recipient organizations said the funds will support ongoing programs and services.
Lilly Oronoz, executive director of Fields of Joy, said the campaign will allow the organization to continue offering support, resources and safe spaces for children and young people.
Stephanie Moore, CEO and executive director of the Puerto Rico Children’s Foundation, said the continued support helps advance the organization’s mission to serve underprivileged children and youth.
