Hospital de la Concepción buys medical facility in San Germán

The Hospital de la Concepción will once again have a presence in San Germán’s urban center after announcing the acquisition of the Hospital Metropolitano de San Germán at an undisclosed amount.
This acquisition is part of its multi-million-dollar project to expand its medical services by adding acute care beds, operating rooms, and other services, hospital officials said.
The Hospital Metropolitano de San Germán has 82 authorized beds, five operating rooms, and a six-bed intensive care unit. The hospital is located on Javilla Street in the town’s urban center, steps from the Porta Coeli Church.
“This transaction confirms our commitment to the community, giving us the opportunity to bring our services to the population of the urban center of San Germán, now closer to you,” said Gustavo A. Almodóvar, executive director of the Board of Trustees of Hospital de la Concepción.
The transaction is expected to close Sept. 30, 2025, subject to the issuance of permits from the Puerto Rico Health Department.
A total of 150 current Hospital Metropolitano employees will have the opportunity to interview for the available positions resulting from this transaction.
This purchase complements the recent acquisitions of two diagnostic and treatment centers located in the municipalities of Sabana Grande and Hormigueros, converting the hospital institution into the La Concepción Health System.
