Islandwide opens new $1.6M logistics terminal in Arecibo
Islandwide, the Puerto Rican package pickup and delivery company, has expanded its operations with the opening of a new terminal in Arecibo’s Zeno Gandía development.
The project, part of a $1.6 million investment in machinery and equipment, is tied to the company’s long-term growth plan to strengthen logistics across the island.
Islandwide Chief Executive Pedro Rosaly inaugurated the facility alongside Arecibo Mayor Carlos “Tito” Irizarry and Roberto Lefranc-Fortuño, executive director of the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Co. Officials said the terminal will play a role in supporting regional business activity and job creation.
“Our goal is to be ever closer to our customers. This new terminal in Arecibo will allow us to directly support the business community and residents, while strengthening the local economy,” Rosaly said.
The investment, supported by the Department of Economic Development and Commerce, will allow Islandwide to double its production capacity and expand services to businesses and residents in Arecibo and surrounding towns.
The facility is designed to handle a broad range of goods, from food and medicines to construction materials and other essentials.
Company executives said the terminal will not only improve delivery times and logistics but also create jobs. By increasing accessibility and efficiency, Islandwide seeks to strengthen its role in Puerto Rico’s distribution network.
