JetBlue adds real-time bag tracking, AirTag support for travelers

JetBlue Airways is adding new digital tools for baggage tracking and recovery, including AirTag integration.

JetBlue Airways has introduced two new technology features to enhance its baggage experience, offering travelers real-time bag tracking and integration with Apple AirTag devices.

Puerto Rico’s largest air carrier said the upgrades are designed to “improve customer confidence and reduce the stress often associated with checked luggage.”

“We’re constantly looking for ways to offer our customers a more convenient travel experience,” said Carol Clements, JetBlue’s chief digital and technology officer. “This new in-app bag tracking feature, along with AirTag location sharing for baggage recovery, are designed to bring customers peace of mind when checking their bags with JetBlue.”

The airline’s mobile app now offers enhanced tracking with real-time updates throughout a passenger’s journey. The feature builds on JetBlue’s earlier email-based notifications by consolidating bag status information in one place.

In addition, customers can now choose to share the location of an Apple AirTag or other Find My network accessory placed in their luggage. By generating a secure Share Item Location link through Apple’s Find My app, travelers can provide JetBlue’s Baggage Service team temporary access to help locate delayed or misplaced bags. The process can be started by scanning a QR code at baggage claim or by working with airport staff.

JetBlue emphasized that customers retain full control of location-sharing settings and that access ends automatically once the bag is recovered.

The airline was ranked second among U.S. carriers for baggage handling performance in 2024, with fewer than 1% of bags delayed. The new features reflect JetBlue’s ongoing investment in its JetForward strategy and its focus on improving customer satisfaction.
