MagicPay rolls out POS app for Puerto Rico, USVI markets

MagicPay has rolled out a new point-of-sale application for retailers in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the mainland United States and Mexico, offering a secure, compliant payment tool with features tailored to the region.
The bilingual app, available in English and Spanish, works with Pax Technology and Sunmi smart terminals. It includes fiscal compliance with Puerto Rico’s Internal Revenue Unified System (SURI, in Spanish), integration with ATH Business and a built-in Sales and Use Tax (IVU, in Spanish) Control program certified under the IVU Loto system, effectively turning devices into certified fiscal terminals.
The app supports digital tipping, item-based and reverse tax calculations, offline payment processing and cloud batch settlement. Retailers can accept all major credit cards, ATH cards and PIN debit, with added security through tokenization and point-to-point encryption.
“This launch represents a major step forward in providing merchants across the region with a single, unified solution for payments,” said Luis Lebrón, president of LAC at MagicPay. “By combining compliance, bilingual capabilities and advanced APIs [advanced application programming interfaces], we are uniquely positioned to serve businesses in Puerto Rico and the USVI.”
Hardik Adroja, MagicPay’s chief technology officer, said the solution’s hybrid design supports both stand-alone and semi-integrated functions with a robust API. The app also offers customer engagement tools such as SMS and email receipts, two-step authentication and payment links.
