MBA drives holiday toy effort to brighten kids’ Christmas
The Puerto Rico Mortgage Bankers Association has relaunched its holiday toy drive, “United for children: Give a smile this Christmas,” an islandwide effort to collect new toys for children up to age 12
The campaign, held annually, is intended to assist families experiencing financial hardship during the holiday season.
“At MBA, we believe in the power of solidarity and social commitment. This campaign allows us to share the magic of Christmas with those who need it most, reminding us that a small action can transform a child’s life,” said Executive Director Ricardo Negrón.
The association is partnering again with Toys for Tots and is asking financial institutions, cooperatives and members of the public to contribute.
Donations may be delivered to the MBA’s Hato Rey headquarters during business hours through Dec. 12. The handover of collected toys to Toys for Tots is scheduled for Dec. 15.
Organizers said the initiative has become a standing component of the association’s annual community outreach, involving members across different regions of the island and coordinating efforts with nonprofit groups.
“We invite all financial institutions, cooperatives and the public to join us in this collective effort. Each toy represents hope, joy, and the opportunity to create happy memories for our children,” Negrón said.
He added that participation has remained strong.
“We’re deeply grateful for the response we receive each year from our members and partners. The generosity and sense of community within our industry are proof that together we can make a difference,” he said.
