New SBTDC center in Vega Baja expands support for small businesses

The Puerto Rico Small Business & Technology Development Center has opened a new satellite office in Vega Baja to support entrepreneurs and small business owners in the region. The effort is a collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration and the municipality.
Located on Baldorioty Street, the Satellite Center for Business Assistance will offer free, individualized services including business development training, access to capital, financial analysis and guidance on incentives.
“This is another important step toward revitalizing the region’s economy,” said Vega Baja Mayor Marcos Cruz-Molina. “We want to guarantee that our entrepreneurs from Vega and other neighboring towns have the tools and support accessible for the success of their businesses.”
Open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the center will be staffed by experts from the PR SBTDC and the municipality’s Department of Economic Development. Officials said the center will also coordinate with local organizations and government entities to align services and maximize available resources.
Ivonne Negrón-Luciano, executive director of the PR SBTDC, said the center is designed to “empower the entrepreneurs of Vega Baja and its neighboring towns” by improving access to education, capital and tools.
“This space will not only offer vital education and counseling, but will also foster an environment of collaboration,” she said.
The effort is part of a broader strategy to boost economic resilience and business growth in Puerto Rico’s north-central corridor.
“With this initiative, we make it easier for more entrepreneurs and small business owners to access expert guidance, capital and tools that allow them to grow, innovate and contribute to the economic development of the region,” said Ricardo Martínez, acting district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
