NUC University to offer Puerto Rico’s 1st hyperbaric medicine certification
NUC University has signed an agreement to launch Puerto Rico’s first certified technical education program in hyperbaric medicine and advanced wound care, expanding access to specialized health care training on the island.
The program, developed in partnership with the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine and TrueHyperbarRx, will provide students with clinical and technical instruction in hyperbaric oxygen therapy — a treatment used to accelerate healing in patients with chronic wounds, burns and other injuries.
As part of the agreement, TrueHyperbarRx will donate two hyperbaric chambers to be installed in new labs at the university, allowing students to gain hands-on experience before entering the field.
“This agreement reaffirms our commitment to educational transformation in the health care sector,” said Gonçal Bonmati, the university’s chief strategy and marketing officer. “Providing our students with access to this innovative technique and tools not only strengthens our mission to support future health care professionals but also represents a unique opportunity to continue offering the island new alternatives to improve quality of life.”
NUC University will be the only institution in Puerto Rico authorized to offer hyperbaric therapy certifications endorsed by the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine.
“This is not a distant dream — it’s already happening,” said Tyler Sexton, president of TrueHyperbarRx and the college. “We’re deeply committed and excited to embark on this journey with the institution.”
The first course is scheduled to begin Aug. 31.
