Puerto Rico Statistics Institute Executive Director Mario Marazzi-Santiago was recently elected member of the International Statistical Institute, a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that has had consultative status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 1949.
Citi Foundation and the Central Eastern Technological Initiative, or Inteco, announced Tuesday the return of “Techbiz.mobi,” a techno-educational program designed to teach 18 to 25-year-olds to create mobile apps for the Android mobile operating system and learn to market them online.
The cost of broadband service in Puerto Rico has dropped by more than 75 percent since 2009, when carriers charged between $40 and $65 per Megabit per second, to less than $10 per Mbps in 2012, said Carlo Marazzi, President of Critical Hub Networks, which released Monday the "Puerto Rico Bridge Initiative’s Project Summary & Achievements" report detailing the impact that its ARRA-funded broadband project has made in improving broadband services on the island.
