Perini begins $20M infrastructure project at Coast Guard’s Río Bayamón site

Perini Management Services Inc., a subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corp., has begun construction on a $20.4 million design-build project at the U.S. Coast Guard’s Río Bayamón housing complex in Puerto Rico. The initiative is part of a broader federal effort to strengthen critical infrastructure at mission-essential sites.
The project includes construction of new access roads, security fencing and gates; patching of existing roadways and curbs to accommodate new electrical distribution systems; and selective demolition. It also covers the installation of a new utility building, a water storage tank and upgrades to the complex’s storm drainage systems.
Construction began in January and is scheduled for substantial completion by spring 2027.
“This design-build project will improve the resilience of the electrical and water storage infrastructure and distribution at the Río Bayamón housing site,” the company said in a statement, emphasizing the long-term value of the improvements.
The Puerto Rico project is one of two contracts awarded to Perini Management Services earlier this year. The second project, located at Royal Air Force Lakenheath in the United Kingdom, brings the combined value of both contracts to nearly $49 million. Both reflect the company’s ongoing work on high-security, federally funded construction projects in domestic and international locations.
