PetSmart adds 2 new stores in Puerto Rico

Pet goods retailer PetSmart announced Monday the upcoming openings of two new stores in Puerto Rico, to be located in Plaza Fajardo and Rexville Town Center in Bayamón. While the first store is slated to open Aug. 5, the latter will begin serving pets, and their owners, in September.
The new stores will be the 8th and 9th in the local chain. Each will span 12,000 square-feet and will employ about 60 people combined, company officials said. Since its arrival in 2011, PetSmart has opened stores at Señorial Plaza (Río Piedras), Plaza Río Hondo (Bayamón), San Patricio Plaza (Guaynabo), Plaza Centro (Caguas), Plaza Escorial (Carolina), Plaza del Norte (Hatillo) and Ponce Town Center (Ponce).
“PetSmart continues to win customers over, as we consider their pets part of our families. That’s why we continue with our expansion plan in Puerto Rico as our deals, product variety and services make us experts in the pets category and a favorite for the Puerto Rican public looking for quality, best prices and everything they want for their pets in one place,” said Julio Reyes, general manager of PetSmart in Puerto Rico.
To mark the opening of the Fajardo store, PetSmart will sponsor a day-long celebration Aug. 10, company executives said.
